What is a quote template?
It's the structure that organizes a sales offer: the issuer's details, the customer's, the line items with quantities and prices, the totals with tax, and the date until which the price holds. There's no mandatory legal format, but when one of those parts is missing the document becomes easy to dispute.
How do I make a quote step by step?
Start by identifying your business and the customer, and give it a sequential number and a date. Then list each product or service on its own line, with quantity and unit price, so the customer can adjust the scope without dropping everything. Add up the subtotal, apply the tax that applies where you are and close with the validity and the payment terms. The tool on this page does the math and builds the PDF for you.
What's the difference between a quote, an estimate and a proforma?
In practice they're used interchangeably. When they are told apart, a quote puts a fixed price on something already defined —these products, these quantities— while an estimate approximates the cost of a job whose scope is still being worked out, so it usually allows for more variation. A proforma invoice is a preliminary bill sent before the sale is final. The template all three need is the same, and it's the one the tool on this page builds.
