A purchase order has no legally required format, but without any one of these four parts it stops working as a record.
This is the PDF you download.
An A4 page with buyer and supplier, the purchase lines, the total with tax, delivery and payment terms. It opens on any phone and prints without adjusting anything.

What a purchase order is
It's the document a buyer uses to formalize an order with their supplier. It puts in writing what's being ordered, how much of it, at what price, when it has to arrive and how it's paid. Once the supplier accepts it, it stops being an intention and becomes an agreement between both parties, with something to fall back on if the numbers don't match later.
It isn't the same as a quote or an invoice, even though all three talk about the same purchase. The quote is issued by the seller and proposes a price the other side may or may not accept. The purchase order is issued by the buyer once they've decided, and confirms the order. The invoice comes last, issued by the supplier after delivery, and it's the document that gets paid.
That's why it pays to number them in sequence: that number is the thread that later ties the order to the packing slip, the invoice and the payment, and it's the first thing you look for when something doesn't add up.
Quote, purchase order and work order
They're three documents from the same deal, at three different moments. The quote proposes, the purchase order confirms what's being bought and the work order gets it done. Each one has its own free tool here.
Need more than a PDF?
In cotizaciónweb the purchase order isn't a standalone module: it comes from the quote your customer accepted and drives the work order that follows. All three documents speak the same language.
From quote to order, without retyping
The purchase order starts from something you already quoted. On the platform it's generated from that document, with the same items and the same prices.
A history of every purchase
What was ordered, from whom, when and how it ended up. No digging for the PDF in someone's downloads folder.

FAQ
What is a purchase order?
It's the document a business uses to formalize an order with its supplier: it details what's being bought, how much, at what price, when it's delivered and how it's paid. Once the supplier accepts it, it works as an agreement between both parties.
How is it different from an invoice?
The buyer issues the purchase order before receiving the product or service; the supplier issues the invoice after delivering it, and that's the document that gets paid. The order says what was requested; the invoice, what's owed.
How is it different from a quote?
A quote is the seller's proposal: prices and terms the customer may or may not accept. The purchase order is the next step, when the buyer has decided and confirms the order in writing.
Is there a purchase order template in Word or Excel?
You don't need to download one: the tool on this page hands you the finished PDF, with your logo, your colors and the totals worked out, with no watermark. A Word or Excel template means fighting with cells and margins every time, and it usually arrives misaligned in the supplier's inbox.
Is the purchase order generator free?
Yes. You can create and download as many purchase orders as you need as PDFs, at no cost and without creating an account.
Does it work for any country or currency?
Yes. You can choose from US dollars, euros and the currencies of Latin America and Spain, and leave the tax at 0% if it doesn't apply to you.
Is my data stored on a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser: your data and the PDF are generated locally and never sent to any server.
